A long-standing dispute over house boundary turned violent at Jangareddygudem town on Tuesday night after a youth allegedly attacked his aunt’s family with an axe, killing a woman and seriously injuring three others.
Jangareddygudem Circle Inspector M.V. Subhash said the incident occurred at Ward No. 6 of Jangareddygudem, where the accused and the victims live in adjacent houses. Tension between the two families had been simmering for quite some time over a boundary issue. On Tuesday night, the dispute escalated into a heated argument, following which the accused, identified as Muppidi Vivek, allegedly launched an attack with an axe.
Kalapala Jeelugulamma (45) sustained grievous injuries and collapsed on the spot, succumbing to her wounds. Vivek also assaulted her mother, Muppidi Chukkamma, whose condition is reported to be critical. Jeelugulamma’s daughters, Dhanalakshmi and Usharani, suffered severe injuries to their heads and hands, he said.
Following a complaint, police shifted the injured to the Jangareddygudem Area Hospital. As Chukkamma’s condition worsened, she was later shifted to a private hospital for advanced treatment.
The police took four persons, Vivek, his mother Nageswari, Pavan and Syam, into custody. An investigation is on.
