
Constable found dead in Sahibganj | Ranchi News – Times of India
Dumka: A constable’s body was discovered near the women constables’ barrack at the police lines within Jirwabadi police station jurisdiction in Sahibganj on Sunday. The deceased, Surjit Kumar Yadav (35), belonged to the Sahibganj district police force.Yadav hailed from Gwalpada village, which falls under Maheshpur police station jurisdiction in Pakur district.Yadav’s wife reported that he left home on Saturday evening and did not return. The following morning, fellow police officers discovered his body and informed Jirwabadi police station. He was taken to Sadar Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.According to police reports, the deceased’s body showed multiple injuries, including a broken left hand, indicating severe assault by attackers that led to his death.Godda SP Animesh Nathani, who is currently overseeing Sahibganj SP duties in Amit Kumar Singh’s absence, visited the scene after receiving information about the constable’s mysterious death.Nathani confirmed that authorities had detained several individuals for questioning. “Local police have detained a few suspects who are being interrogated as the process of lodging of the FIR of the murder of the constable is under process,” he said, adding that a medical board at Sahibganj Sadar Hospital conducted the post-mortem to determine the cause of death before releasing the body to family members.He further mentioned that residents of nearby police quarters were being questioned to gather information about the incident.The deceased constable is survived by his wife and two daughters, aged 6 and 2 years.
