Andhra Pradesh intermediate admissions to begin April 1: Key details for 2025-26 – The Times of India

AP Board Inter Admission 2025-26: The Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh, has announced the admissions schedule for the 2025-26 academic year. According to the official notice, the classes for second-year intermediate courses will commence on April 1, 2025. First-year intermediate classes are set to begin a week later, on April 7, 2025. This year, the board has issued detailed guidelines to ensure a smooth and fair admission process.
Students and parents should familiarise themselves with the board’s reservation system and other important procedures before applying. The board has also clarified that no tests will be conducted for admissions, with all placements based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
Reservation and quota system
The Board of Intermediate Education has outlined a category-wise reservation cut-off for admissions. A 15% reservation is allocated for Scheduled Castes, 6% for Scheduled Tribes, and 29% for Backward Classes, divided into categories A, B, C, D, and E. Additionally, 3% of seats are reserved for Children With Special Needs (CWSN), and 5% for students from NCC, sports, and extracurricular activities. Ex-service men and defence personnel residing in the state have a 3% quota, while Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) are granted 10% of the total seats.
The board has also made provisions for gender representation, mandating that 33.33% of total seats should be reserved for girls where there are no separate colleges for them.
Admission process and guidelines
Principals of junior colleges have been instructed to make provisional admissions based on the SSC hall ticket initially. However, these admissions will only be confirmed once the SSC pass certificate or DigiLocker certificate, along with the transfer certificate issued by the previous school, is provided.
For private unaided junior colleges, admissions are limited to the sanctioned sections, with a ceiling of 88 students per section for general courses. For vocational paramedical courses, the ceiling is 30 per section, and for non-paramedical courses, it is 40 per section. Colleges are prohibited from admitting students in combinations that the board has dropped. Furthermore, principals must display the number of sections and vacant seats prominently at the entrance of the college.
Improved UDISEPLUS portal for easy admissions
The board has integrated the UDISEPLUS portal to streamline the admission process. The portal will automatically pull data from SSC records for students enrolling in the first year of intermediate. For second-year students, the system will allow for easy upgrading from the first year. All junior colleges, whether government, private, or residential, are required to enter the details of their students through the UDISEPLUS portal.
This step aims to ensure transparency and maintain accurate records across the system. The board has also warned private junior colleges against issuing any ranks for the Intermediate Public Examination, reinforcing its commitment to protecting students’ and parents’ interests.
Principals are further instructed to include the mother’s name, along with the father’s, in the admission register to align with records from the qualifying examination. Enhanced security measures for girl students will also be implemented in all junior colleges to ensure a safe environment.
With these guidelines in place, the Andhra Pradesh Board of Intermediate Education aims to facilitate a smooth and transparent admission process for students across the state.
