Taliban wants tourists? That’s scary, not cool

Imagine being asked to visit a country where girls aren’t allowed to go to school, women can’t work, and people get hurt in public just for speaking out. Sounds scary, right? That’s what life is like in Afghanistan under the Taliban – a strict and harsh group that controls the country.

But now, they want tourists to come visit. Yes, seriously. Just like North Korea – another country ruled by a tough dictator – is building beach resorts and asking people to come relax by the sea, the Taliban is trying to make Afghanistan seem like a fun travel destination.

The problem? These countries might have beautiful mountains or beaches, but they are not safe. In fact, the Taliban even made a tourist ad where people pretend to be hostages – it starts with a scene that looks like someone is about to be hurt, and then shows a smiling man giving a thumbs-up. That’s not funny or friendly – it’s creepy and very wrong.

At the same time, women in Afghanistan aren’t allowed to study, go to the doctor without a man, or even leave home freely. Yet the Taliban wants foreigners – especially Americans – to visit and spend money. Why? Because they need cash.

Some people might still go, just for the thrill or to show off. But turning cruelty into a tourist attraction is not okay. Just because something is made to look “normal” doesn’t mean it is normal. Some places aren’t safe to visit, not because of nature, but because of the people in charge.
