Six Sarpanches Booked in Kamareddy for Mass Killing of Stray Dogs Ahead of Elections

Police in Kamareddy district have registered a case against six people, including five sarpanches, in connection with the mass killing of stray dogs. Earlier, a similar incident in Hanamkonda district saw nine people, including two women sarpanches and their husbands, booked for allegedly killing around 300 stray dogs in Shayampet and Arepally villages. Sources told that ahead of the December gram panchayat elections, some candidates had promised to tackle stray dog and monkey menace, and are now allegedly “fulfilling” those promises through these killings. Veterinary teams exhumed the carcasses and conducted post-mortems, while viscera samples have been sent to the FSL to determine cause of death and substances used.
