Shivamogga: Yoga training for police officials, staff conducted

A three-day yoga training programme conducted for police officials and staff members concluded in Shivamogga on January 7.

The officials and staff took part in the programme conducted by yoga trainer Bhageerathi Kannadathi, a resource person at Karnataka Police Academy, at the DAR Grounds in the city. Superintendent of Police Nikhil B., Additional Superintendent of Police A.G. Cariappa, Indian Police Service probationer Megha Aggarwal, and other senior officers attended the programme.

Mr. Nikhil said the training programme was useful for the officials and stated that if they treat yoga as part of their routine, they will see the difference in their health within a few months.

He also said the yoga will help officers manage their anger and stress, besides contributing to their physical fitness and health. The officers who maintain good health with a disciplined lifestyle will also enhance their contribution to society, he added.

Dr. Kannadathi, who trained the officials, appealed to the staff to continue the practice and promote yoga among their family and friends. She thanked the Home Department for organising the yoga training.

Mr. Nikhil released a handbook on yoga on the occasion.
