New Delhi: Delhi Police has arrested two employees of a construction company who allegedly plotted a fake theft of Rs 15 lakh in southeast Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj.The account manager of the company filed the complaint, alleging that two employees had cheated by falsely reporting a theft of a bag containing cash. He told the cops that one Ramu, who worked as a field boy, had reported to Kalindi Kunj police station last Saturday that the company motorcycle, along with the bag, had been stolen by an unknown person on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway. The account manager added that he became suspicious when their cook, one Anuj, was also found to be missing since the same afternoon and his mobile phone was switched off. Police said that upon verification, several inconsistencies and contradictions were noticed in the version of the alleged theft. A case was registered under sections 316 (criminal breach of trust), 61 (criminal conspiracy) and 3 (5) (common intention) under BNS. “Through surveillance, collection of ground intelligence and field-level follow-up, the teams traced the movements of the accused persons,” said DCP (southeast) Hemant Tiwari.Ramu and Anuj, both 23-year-olds from UP’s Etawah district were arrested. Police recovered Rs 14.5 lakh cash and the company motorcycle from their possession. Mobile phone of Ramu was also seized.
