The makers of Parasakthi heaved a sigh of relief as the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cleared the movie for its release on the scheduled date of January 10, 2026. Directed by Sudha Kongara, the Tamil movie stars Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Atharva Murali and Sreeleela in lead roles.
According to reports, the CBFC had asked the makers to make more than 20 cuts. Parasakthi revolves around the incidents that took place during the anti-Hindi protests in Tamil Nadu in the 1960s. After CBFC’s instruction, the director is reported to have approached a revising committee, stating that the suggested cuts could impact the context of the movie.
However, just a day before the release of Parasakthi, the uncertainty surrounding the movie ended with the film getting a U/A censor certificate. It appears that the makers have adhered to the suggestions from the CBFC, though there hasn’t been an official statement from the production house regarding the development.
GV Prakash is the music composer of Parasakthi, while Ravi K Chandran is the cinematographer. This is Sudha’s second major movie on real incidents afterthe Suriya-starrer Soorarai Pottru, the biopic of Air Deccan-founder Capt. GR Gopinath.
Parasakthi was set to clash with Vijay’s Jana Nayagan at the box office, but interestingly, both the Pongal releases have faced trouble with the censor board. Jana Nayagan, produced by KVN Productions and directed by H Vinoth, was scheduled to release on January 09. The Madras High Court on Friday ordered the CBFC to grant the Vijay-starrer a U/A certificate. However, the CBFC made an immediate mention before the Chief Justice’s Bench for an urgent hearing of a writ appeal to be filed against the order.
