Chennai: Elevator and escalator manufacturer KONE has announced its entry into the villa elevator segment in India. Focused on residential use, the elevator was unveiled at the company’s manufacturing unit in Sriperumbudur near here.Philippe Delorme, president and CEO, KONE Corporation said the company has the complete range of elevators in its portfolio in India. Asked about future investments in the country, the investments will be in research and development and innovation. “Chennai has one of our largest R&D facilities. We will keep developing this center in the future, make it closer to customers and make sure that we keep bringing more innovations to the market,” he said on the occasion.The company has two R&D centres in India, located in Chennai and Pune, comprising about 1,500 employees.
