The Committee of Privileges of the Delhi Assembly on Tuesday (January 6, 2026) submitted a report recommending the House to take “proper action” against AAP chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and others in relation to inauguration of a “fake” phansi ghar (execution room) in the Assembly premises.

“The Committee recommends that the House may take proper action as deemed fit against Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Shri Ram Niwas Goel, Shri Manish Sisodia and Smt. Rakhi Birla for their wilful absence from the sittings of the Committee of Privileges which were scheduled for November 13, 2025 and November 20, 2025 without just cause or permission of the Committee,” the report of the Committee said.

Speaker Vijender Gupta said that the issue will be discussed on Wednesday (January 7, 2026).

In August, claiming that there was no ‘phansi ghar’ (execution room) in the Assembly premises, Mr. Gupta had said that crores of rupees were spent on the “fake” phansi ghar and its advertisement. Mr. Gupta had referred the matter to the Committee for inquiry.
