In view of the increasing tension between India and Pakistan, the Char Dham Yatra helicopter service has been suspended with immediate effect in Uttarakhand, officials said on Saturday (May 10, 2025).
After the orders from Delhi, the helicopter service of Char Dham Yatra will remain shut till further orders. The move will have a significant impact on the pilgrims going to Kedarnath.

The portals of Badrinath Dham were opened on Sunday with thousands of devotees taking part in the ceremony.
The gates of the temple located at a height of more than 11,000 ft were opened at 7 am, Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) officials said.

On May 8, 2025, six people, including five women and the 60-year-old pilot, died, and one person sustained grievous injuries after a private helicopter, heading towards Gangotri temple, crashed near River Bhagirathi in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district.
