Hyderabad: The Telangana high court on Tuesday issued notices to the state govt while hearing a petition filed by a farmer from Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, alleging non-disbursal of crop loan waiver benefits. Justice Madhavi Devi adjourned the matter to Feb 3, 2026, for further hearing and permitted the petitioner to serve personal notice on Canara Bank’s Aroor branch, where the loan is due. The petitioner, Baddam Narsimha Reddy of Valigonda mandal, had availed a crop loan of 2 lakh, with an outstanding balance of 1,56,359 as of Dec 9, 2023. He claimed eligibility under GO No 567 dated July 15, 2024, which provides waiver of farm loans in Telangana up to 2 lakh. The petitioner found that while other similarly placed farmers received waivers, his loan status remained unaffected.On inquiry, the bank issued a statement in which the eligibility column was left blank. The status of waiver was marked as “pending verification of family members,” a status that has continued for months. Despite representations made on Dec 20, 2025, no action was taken. Alleging arbitrariness and violation of equality, he sought directions to process the waiver as per the government order.
