A 17-year-old girl died of electrocution at her house at Sathankulam here on Wednesday night.
As per police, A. Varshana, 17, a student of Sathankulam government higher secondary school, on Wednesday evening, when trying to switch on a table fan at her house, suffered heavy shock.
Her elder sister, A. Rakshathiya, 18, who attempted to save her was also hit by electricity.
Both were rushed to Ramanathapuram Government Medical College Hospital, but doctors declared Varshana, as brought dead.
Kenikarai police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
