FIR against panchayat head for funds embezzlement | Ranchi News – The Times of India

Chatra: The block development officer (BDO) of Vishnugarh, Akhilesh Kumar, lodged an FIR against Sumita Devi, mukhiya of Alpito panchayat in Hazaribag district, and three others for allegedly embezzling govt funds worth Rs 23.8 lakh.
The accused include Devi’s husband Dhaneshwar Yadav, their relative Narayan Yadav, and former panchayat secretary Saryu Paswan.
The case involves misappropriation of funds allocated under the 15th finance plan of 2021-22. The irregularities were revealed in a govt report.
Kumar’s investigation revealed that payments were made illegally, bypassing departmental guidelines. “The payments should have been made to beneficiary committees, but were instead directed to unauthorised individuals identified during our investigation,” Kumar said.
The FIR was registered at Vishnugarh police station under various sections related to embezzlement of govt funds, financial irregularities, violation of govt regulations, misuse of official position and destruction of evidence.
