A father and daughter were killed after a speeding water tanker ran over them on the Shadnagar X Roads on Saturday (July 26, 2025) morning.
The deceased have been identified as J. Machender, 48, and his daughter J. Maitri, 20, a BTech student at Vardhaman College of Engineering, Shamshabad. The accident was reported around 7.30 a.m. when the two were travelling on a two-wheeler from their residence to the college on the Hyderabad-Mahbubnagar road.
According to Shadnagar Inspector Vijay Kumar, the water tanker hit their vehicle from the rear. “Machender was on his way to drop his daughter to college. The impact caused them to fall onto the road, and the vehicle’s tyres ran over them,” the officer said.
Both victims died on the spot. The Shadnagar police have taken the tanker driver, identified as Sreenu, into custody. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
