A World Economic Forum panel session in Davos featuring NATO’s Mark Rutte, Polish President Karol Nawrocki and Finland’s Alexander Stubb repeatedly suggested that the focus on Greenland had taken the spotlight away from Ukraine. “We’re talking about can Europe defend itself and something that’s really interesting is that we have not said the word Russia or Ukraine,” the moderator interjected at one point. Rutte later admitted: “The risk here is that we focus, of course, on Greenland, because we have to make sure that that issue gets solved in an amicable way. But the main issue is not Greenland now. The main issue is Ukraine.” “I agree with everything Alex Stubb was saying, but I’m also a little bit worried that we might drop the ball focusing so much on these other issues,” he added. “This focus on Ukraine should be our number one priority.”
