Reacting to the Maharashtra local body election results, Congress MP Manish Tewari said the BMC verdict reflects public disapproval of the BJP and the split in the Shiv Sena. Citing the numbers, Tewari pointed out that the BJP and the breakaway Sena faction together won around 119 seats, only marginally above the 114 needed for a majority. He stressed that more than 50 per cent of the seats were secured by parties opposed to the BJP and the manner in which the Shiv Sena was divided. Tewari added that the outcome clearly shows the political fate of those who aligned with the BJP, sending a wider message across the country.
