Ajay Devgn and his nephew Danish Devgn’s Lens Vault Studios have unveiled Bal Tanhaji, a generative AI-driven narrative project rooted in the legacy of Ajay’s blockbuster historical film, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior(2020).
As per a press release, the studios’ in-house generative AI and creative technology engine has powered the “visual design, narrative scale, and world-building framework of Bal Tanhaji”.
The studio unveiled a short teaser video giving a glimpse into the world. It features Ajay’s voice over as he contextualises the story’s timeline when the Marathas were fighting Adilshahi, Nizamshahi and the Mughal sultanate. There are visuals of battle and destruction. The voice over explains how Bilal Khan killed Tanhaji Malusure’s father, Kaluji Malusure. That gave rise to the warrior in a young Tanhaji who is seen taking arms in anger.
Speaking about the project, Ajay said in a statement, “Lens Vault Studios was created to move beyond conventional boundaries of storytelling. Our focus is on discovering formats and mediums that are still largely untapped, while applying the discipline and scale of mainstream cinema. Bal Tanhaji represents the beginning of this journey into future-ready content creation.”
Danish added, “With Bal Tanhaji, we are redefining how legacy narratives can evolve through technology. Generative AI allows us to expand story universes in ways that were previously impossible, making them more immersive, scalable, and relevant for new-age audiences. This is the foundation on which Lens Vault Studios is being built.”
