A person identified as B.C. Reddappa was taken into custody by the Odisha police for reportedly smuggling ganja in Berhampur on Monday. The accused is a resident of Kanamakula Palle village in Shantipuram mandal of the Kuppam Assembly Constituency.
According to the sources, the police during a regular vehicle check at the inter-State border stopped a mini-lorry and seized 50 kgs of ganja and the vehicle. The accused had been allegedly involved in the contraband trade for a few years, operating in the tri-State Kuppam junction.
