Youths Taking Selfies On Rail Tracks Held During Drone Patrol
TIRUPATI: A group of five youths was detained by police on Saturday after they were spotted taking selfies on the railway tracks near the Icon Bridge in Tirupati. The youths were spotted during a drone patrol conducted under the limits of the Sri Venkateswara University police station.
Following instructions from Tirupati district superintendent of police V. Harshavardhan Raju, drone surveillance has been implemented to enhance safety monitoring in public places in Tirupati city. The DSP M. Bhaktavatsalam is supervising the operation.
During a routine aerial patrol, drone operators noticed the youths standing on the railway tracks and taking selfies. Responding swiftly, police teams activated the drone’s public siren and proceeded to the spot. On hearing the siren, the youths immediately left the tracks.
A special party deployed nearby, in coordination with the drone surveillance unit, tracked the group and detained them a short distance away. Police counselled the youths and released them after warning them about the serious risks associated with taking photographs in such dangerous locations. They warned of legal action in case of recurrence of such acts.
Police advised youths to act responsibly in public spaces and avoid behaviour that could endanger their lives.
