Korean Kanakaraju is the title of Telugu actor Varun Tej’s much-awaited Indo-Korean film, the makers announced on Monday (January 19) with a title glimpse. Directed by Merlapaka Gandhi, the film is set for a release in Summer 2026.

The teaser, released on Varun’s 36th birthday, begins to show actor Satya’s character being interrogated by cops in Korea. While he struggles to understand what they want out of him, Ritika Naik steps in to clarify that they seem to be interested in getting information about a mysterious Kanakaraju. Just as they wished, Kanakaraju enters the police station and slashes the cops with a katana before perching atop the table and flashing a chilling smile. “I’m back,” he utters in Korean, which prompts Satya wonder which Kanakaraju this is. Korean Kanakaraju appears as the title.

Billed as a horror-comedy with “a cross-cultural twist,” the film is set in both India and Korea. With music scored by Thaman S, the film has cinematography by Manojh Reddy Katasani and editing by Satyaa G.
