Understanding anxiety disorder

Rising heartbeat, breathlessness, shaking, and sweaty palms—many of you might have experienced these when a teacher asks you a random question or when you are on stage for public speaking. While it could be occasional fear or anxiousness, if it goes beyond certain situations and starts interfering with your daily life, relationships, and wellbeing, it might be a sign of anxiety disorder. Now, what is anxiety disorder, and how do we understand what’s happening to us without typing out your symptoms to Google or ChatGPT?

Well, anxiety disorder is one of the most common mental health conditions, affecting millions of people worldwide. Anxiety disorders are characterised by excessive fear, nervousness, and apprehension, which can lead to physical and emotional distress. Unlike normal stress, which may be situational and temporary, anxiety disorders persist over time and can become debilitating. In order to fully understand whether you have an anxiety disorder, it is extremely important to seek professional help through a psychologist and a psychiatrist.

Is it the same for everyone?

Anxiety disorders are of various types, and some of them are generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, etc.

Anxiety disorders, as mentioned before, can show a wide range of physical, emotional, and cognitive symptoms. These symptoms can vary depending on the specific type of anxiety disorder, but often include physical symptoms like rapid heartbeat or palpitations, breathlessness, dizziness or lightheadedness, sweating and trembling, and gastrointestinal issues where you might experience nausea, diarrhoea, or stomachaches, as well as insomnia or difficulty sleeping. If any of these symptoms persist for a long time, it is best to consult a psychologist or ask for professional help.

Anxiety disorders can significantly impact a person’s quality of life, apart from interference in their daily activities. Chronic anxiety may also contribute to physical health problems, such as high blood pressure, digestive issues, and weakened immune function. Additionally, individuals with untreated anxiety disorders are often at a higher risk of developing depression and substance abuse disorders as well.

The brave art of seeking help

Telling someone that you need help when required is one of the bravest things an individual can do, and there are a variety of ways in which you can help yourself through professional aid when it comes to anxiety disorders.

– Therapy is one of the most widely used methods to cope with anxiety disorders, as it helps individuals to identify and challenge negative thought patterns through various techniques. There are different kinds of therapy, like cognitive behavioural therapy, or CBT, psychodynamic therapy, humanistic therapy, etc.

– Medications can often help manage anxiety symptoms, along with therapy. A psychiatrist will be able to help you out with understanding whether you need medication and dosage.

– Lifestyle changes such as regular exercise to release endorphins and improve mood, eating a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients, meditation and relaxation techniques, adequate sleep to improve overall mental health, and avoiding caffeine, alcohol, and recreational drugs that can trigger anxiety. These can help in managing your mental health better, especially while seeking help.

Not Aishwarya Rai, Kajol was the FIRST choice to play Shah Rukh Khan’s sister in Josh, reveals director Mansoor Khan | – The Times of India

Mansoor Khan revealed surprising casting choices for his film ‘Josh.’ Shah Rukh Khan was always the first choice for Max, but Aamir Khan initially assumed he would play the role. Kajol declined the sister’s role, wanting to play Max instead. Aishwarya Rai’s professionalism impressed Khan, as she accepted the role without concern for character prominence.

Filmmaker Mansoor Khan, known for hit films like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, recently spoke about the casting of his 2000 movie Josh. In a new interview with PTI, he revealed that the film’s cast could have looked very different. Aamir Khan was first considered to play Aishwarya Rai’s love interest, and Kajol was originally offered the role that later went to Aishwarya. The film eventually starred Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya as twins.
Shah Rukh Khan Was Always the First Choice for Max
The director shared that SRK was always his first choice to play the role of Max in Josh. However, when he first discussed the script with Aamir Khan, Aamir assumed he would be cast as Max. Later, when Mansoor approached Shah Rukh with the same role, the actor was enthusiastic. But after realizing that Aamir might be involved, Shah Rukh stepped back from the project, which led to a change in casting plans.Kajol Wanted to Play Max, Not the Sister
Eventually, Shah Rukh came back on board to play Max, while Aamir left the project. But casting challenges continued. When Mansoor Khan offered the role of Max’s twin sister to Kajol—who had already shared blockbuster success with Shah Rukh in films like DDLJ and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai—she surprised him by walking out after the narration. When asked about taking the role, she declined, expressing interest in playing Max instead, as she felt that character carried more charm.

Aishwarya Rai’s Professionalism Sealed the Deal
Things finally fell into place when Mansoor Khan approached Aishwarya for the role. Unlike others, she didn’t focus on which character had more prominence. She appreciated the overall story and agreed to come on board. Her professionalism stood out, and Mansoor believes Josh was one of her finest performances.
The filmmaker highlighted that his casting decisions are guided by conviction rather than commercial appeal. He shared that he doesn’t focus on whether the pairing will be a box-office hit, but instead prioritizes whether he personally believes in the casting choice.

Do you believe that the government is doing enough to combat terrorism?

The tragic event, which took place in Pahalgam — one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in the region — is now making headlines and drawing deep condolences from celebrities and politicians, including Anupam Kher and Akshay Kumar from the film fraternity.
In his video statement, Anupam shared, “What happened in Pahalgam today — the massacre of 27 Hindus, targeted and killed one by one — fills the heart with sorrow, but there are no limits to the rage and fury I feel. I’ve seen this happen far too many times in my life. This violence against Kashmiri Hindus in Kashmir. The Kashmir Files was just a faint glimpse of that reality, a small part of a much larger, painful truth. Yet, so many dismissed it as propaganda.”

“I strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected. Those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice… they will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakeable, and it will grow even stronger,” he wrote.

Rohit Shetty confirms sequel to Ranveer Singh’s ‘Simmba’; says ‘Sooryavanshi bhi aage badhegi’ | Hindi Movie News – The Times of India

Published

Rohit Shetty, known for making hit cop universe films in Bollywood, recently spoke about his franchise, which he started with no plans for a sequel. He also shared that ‘Simmba’ and ‘Sooryavanshi‘ will soon have sequels.
In a recent interaction with Game Changers, Rohit reflected on how it all began with Singham in 2011, which later expanded into a full-fledged franchise featuring Singham Returns, Simmba, Sooryavanshi, and the latest instalment, Singham Again.
Shetty revealed that there were no initial plans to build a universe when Singham was made. When he made Singham, he had no idea that the film would become such a huge brand. The idea of connecting stories across films only came later, during the scripting of Simmba, which eventually led to the creation of a shared universe with the introduction of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sooryavanshi’.

Would you prefer standalone films for new characters introduced in the franchise?

Shetty confirmed the development of sequels and spin-offs that will further expand the franchise. “Simmba ka bhi part 2 hoga, Sooryavanshi bhi aage badhegi. Aur bhi log aayenge. Aur bhi filmein banengi cop universe mein. So, isliye we created that universe,” he said, indicating that not only are Simmba 2 and a continuation of Sooryavanshi on the cards, but more characters and films are also in the pipeline.
The filmmaker also shed light on the thought process behind the 2024 mega-project Singham Again, which brings together a host of characters, both old and new. According to Shetty, the concept for this ensemble cast film was formulated back in 2019 during the production of Sooryavanshi. The team had already envisioned how new entrants like Deepika Padukone and Tiger Shroff would be introduced and how their narratives would unfold.
Shetty clarified, “So, it’s not just that they are coming for 10–15 minutes and after that, they don’t have any work.” The intent was always to craft distinct arcs for these characters, hinting at solo ventures for both Deepika and Tiger Shroff in the future.
Singham Again turned out to be a massive hit, featuring Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tiger Shroff, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff in key roles.
