Two youth from Tripura were arrested by the Chennai police for possession of heroin meant for sale.
Based on a tip-off, a joint team of the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit and personnel from the Vepery police station conducted surveillance on Monday (September 29, 2025) morning on Perambur Barracks Road. They intercepted two men based on certain suspicions, and upon inquiry and search, found them to be in possession of heroin.
A case was registered at the Vepery police station, and the two men have been identified as Shahidul Islam, 21, and Kahit Mia, 20, from Tripura. The police seized 220 capsules of heroin and 4 g of ganja from them.
Further investigation is under way; the two arrested suspects will be produced before the court after interrogation, said the police.
