Two persons, including a woman, were arrested allegedly with 5 grams of MDMA on Saturday.
The arrested were identified as Abubacker Siddique, 42, of Aluva, and Smisha, 31, of Keezhmadu. They were nabbed by a special squad of Perumbavur ASP from a lodge at Oushadhi Junction in Perumbavoor.
A tip-off received by M. Hemalatha, District Police Chief (Ernakulam Rural), led to the seizure. The accused used to sell drugs in small satchels for ₹1,000 to youngsters, the police said. Abubacker had five cases registered under the NDPS Act in Aluva and Perumbavur police stations. He was arrested allegedly with 1 gram of MDMA last December.
He was released from jail on March 1 after spending 72 days behind the bars. The police said that he was back to the drug business shortly after the release. He allegedly used to source the drug from Bangaluru.
