South superstar Kamal Haasan is all set for his powerful comeback with the highly awaited film Thug Life which is helmed by acclaimed director Mani Ratnam. The film’s trailer was released recently and it has grabbed a lot of attention. The trailer has created a massive buzz online and it is one of the most anticipated films of the year. With the theatrical release, fans are eagerly waiting for the film to stream on the OTT platforms. Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam have reunited after 35 years and have joined hands for Thug Life. Thug Life is Kamal Haasan’s 234th film and the two worked together on critically acclaimed 1987 classic Nayakan. The film follows Rangaraaya Sakthivel Naicker, a gangster, who was presumed dead and returns to find himself at odds with his son as they become enemies.
Thug Life OTT release
The film was officially announced in November 2022. After its theatrical run, Thug Life is expected to release on OTT platform Netflix. The release date has not been announced as of now. Thug Life will be available in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The announcement was officially shared by the makers on Netflix’s social media platforms.
In the trailer, Kamal Haasan’s character is shown as a caring father and his bond with his son will melt your hearts. The film was shot across Chennai, Kanchipuram, Pondicherry, New Delhi, and parts of North India.

Thug Life will be released in theaters on 5th June 2025. The film also features Trisha, Gautham Karthik, Joju George, and Aishwarya Lekshmi in key roles. The film’s music has been composed by A.R. Rahman, cinematographer has been executed by Ravi K. Chandran, and edited by Sreekar Prasad.
