Three persons killed in two different road accidents in Virudhunagar district

Three persons were killed in two different road accidents reported near Rajapalayam and Aruppukottai in Virudhunagar district.

The police said two persons, including a boy, were killed when a speeding truck rammed against a roadside meat shop at Kamaraj Nagar in Dhalavaipuram in the early hours of Sunday (September 28, 2025).

The driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle and it hit the meat shop. Ponnaiah (70) of Kamaraj Nagar and Akash (16) of Indira Nagar were fatally knocked down. Both were killed on the spot.

Another person, Manimaran (26) was injured in the accident. He was rushed to the Government hospital in Rajapalayam. After providing first-aid, he was shifted to Virudhunagar Government Medical College hospital.

In the other accident involving a car reported under Aruppukottai Town police station limits, the car driver Yogaraj (35) of Allampatti near Virudhunagar was killed and three others injured when the speeding car hit against the median on West By-pass Road under construction near Periya Puliyampatti.

The police said Yogaraj lost control of the vehicle while the car was speeding on the bypass road and it dashed against the median at around 12.45 a.m. In the impact of the accident, the car flew in the air and then turned turtle. Yogaraj was killed owing to grievous head injuries.

The police identified the injured as N. Tamilarasan (18), Sundar (22) and Sadam Hussain, all from Allampatti. After giving them first-aid at Government hospital in Aruppukottai, all the injured were rushed to VGMCH for further treatment.
