Three members of a family were killed and one was injured after the car they were travelling in rammed a roadside tree near Padalur in Perambalur district on Wednesday.
According to police sources, the accident occurred in the morning on Tiruchi-Chennai national highway near Padalur in the district. The police identified the deceased as Balaprabhu, 35, his three-year-old daughter Kavitha, and father-in-law Kanthaswamy, 50, and the injured as Gowri, 27, his wife. They belonged to Kanniyakumari.
While travelling from Kanniyakumari to Chennai, Balaprabhu, who was driving, lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree on the highway. In the impact, three of them died on the spot, while Gowri was admitted to Perambalur Government Head Quarters Hospital. The Padalur police are investigating.
