Kerala boosted its knockout chances with a comprehensive eight-wicket win over Jharkhand here on Saturday.
Captain Rohan S. Kunnammal was happy with his form and the performance of his team.
Rohan credited Sanju Samson for making things easier for him in the middle during the match-winning opening wicket stand.
Rohan said the surface at the ADRS Railways stadium was misleading and it fooled Jharkhand captain Ishan Kishan who opted to bowl.
“It was a good toss to lose.
“The wicket gave the impression of being firm but it turned out to be a slow surface where the odd ball stopped. We would have batted if we had won the toss. But we did well to dismiss their inform batters cheaply to put them under pressure. Kushagra was outstanding but Jharkhand’s total was a par score on this surface,’” he said.
“I am happy with the way I am batting. I was timing the ball pretty well today.
“The wicket became a little slower in the afternoon. We played the ball on merit and the plan was to score as many runs in the powerplay.
“Samson’s presence was inspirational for the team. He batted beautifully. It is an important win for us,” he added.
