Shivamogga Lokayukta police arrest medical officer for taking bribe to give post-mortem report

The Shivamogga Lokayukta police arrested a medical officer in Shikaripur while accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 to give the post-mortem report of a deceased on Tuesday.

The Lokayukta police inspector, Gururaj N.M., and his staff trapped and arrested Gopal G. Harigi, who was working at the Shikaripur government hospital. The action followed a complaint by Sunil N.Y. of Kappanahalli in Shikaripur taluk.

The medical officer had demanded a bribe of ₹20,000 to hand over the post-mortem of Sathish Manchi of Shikaripur taluk, who died recently.

His family members were not willing to give money. Sunil, a close associate of the family, filed a complaint with the Lokayukta police.
