Ranchi: The management of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) on Thursday formed a committee to investigate the alleged molestation incident of a junior female doctor on its premises on Tuesday by an unidentified person.An FIR was also lodged with the Bariatu police station.The committee included the dean of student welfare, the additional medical superintendent, the head of dermatology, and the administrative officer. Rims director Dr Raj Kumar said, “The committee has been tasked with identifying security lapses, particularly in vulnerable areas of the hospital, and suggesting the deployment of additional guards. It will also review access points and recommend the closure of unnecessary gates during night-time hours, allowing only one monitored entry-exit gate. It will evaluate the need for installing CCTVs across indoor hospital corridors and hostel premises.”The director called for strict action against any security personnel found absent from duty during the time of the incident. “Security negligence will not be tolerated,” an administrative official said.The vice-president of Junior Doctors’ Association (JDA), Dr Abhishek Hansda, said, “Though there are enough male and female guards, it has often been observed that they are not on duty. We were promised floor-wise guard deployment and tighter security after previous cases like RG Kar. But those commitments seem empty.”Demanding institutional accountability, he added, “We want 100% assurance of safety for our female colleagues.” .
