Kolkata: As Kolkata gets ready to celebrate Poila Baisakh next week, restaurants are rolling out specially curated menus to celebrate the state’s rich culinary heritage. From traditional thalis to unique colonial pop-ups, foodies in the city are in for a treat as eateries across the city rustle up nostalgia, innovation, and cultural pride.
At Saptapadi Restaurant, diners can enjoy a lavish Bengali thali or a more elaborate buffet, each with authentic home-style preparations. “Poila Baisakh is not just a new year—it’s a celebration of our roots, culture, and cuisine,” said Ranjan Biswas, owner of the restaurant. “We are presenting a specially curated menu that honours tradition while embracing fresh culinary expressions.”
Both the thali and buffet options feature a variety of festive fare, from comforting classics to elaborate multi-course meals, along with traditional desserts and refreshing beverages, keeping in mind the warm weather.
