Ranchi unites in grief: Candlelight vigil honours Pahalgam terror attack victims | Ranchi News – The Times of India



Ranchi: The city witnessed an outpouring of grief as residents gathered to honour the victims of the recent Pahalgam terror attack through candlelight vigils and torch processions across the city.
Hundreds of citizens assembled at Albert Ekka Chowk for a solemn candlelight vigil, holding placards and condemning terrorism. Anurag Singh, an NCC cadet from St. Xavier’s College, expressed the collective sentiment, saying, “We demand immediate action against the perpetrators. Such brutality cannot go unanswered.”
Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi led a torch procession from Jaipal Singh Stadium, accompanied by BJP workers. The procession echoed with chants of “Shaheedon ko nyay do” and “Atankwad murdabad.” Marandi said, “The pain of losing innocent lives is immeasurable. We stand in solidarity with the bereaved.”
Local MLAs C P Singh and Naveen Jaiswal extended condolences to the victims’ families. “This is not just an attack on individuals but on the soul of our nation,” said Singh.
The Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM) organised a candlelight march from District School to Albert Ekka Chowk. Party vice-president Devendranath Mahato criticised security lapses, urging both the state and central govts to set aside political differences and address the issue collectively.
At Piska More, protesters condemned the killing of innocent tourists in Pahalgam through a march, lighting candles in memory of the victims and demanding decisive action from the govt.
The unity displayed by Ranchi’s residents demonstrates their resilience in the face of tragedy, as they stand together demanding justice for the victims of this heinous attack.
