The Puducherry District Court on Monday (July 21, 2025) received a bomb threat via email, which later turned out to be a hoax following a thorough search conducted by the Bomb Detection and Disposal squad of the territorial police.
An email was sent by an unidentified person around 8 a.m to the official email ID of the Court and Secretary, Law, claiming a blast using improvised explosive device (IED) would take place on the court premises soon. On receiving the threat, police units were rushed for a search of the court premises. The checks conducted in the court building proved the bomb threat was a hoax, said a police officer.
In recent months, several buildings in Puducherry, including Raj Nivas, Chief Minister’s Office, Residence, JIPMER, District Collectorate, and French Consulate have received hoax bomb threats.
