On Equality Day 1,164 beneficiaries receive welfare aids worth ₹8.27 crore

Minister of Information Technology and Digital Services Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, to mark the ‘Equality Day,’ on Monday, distributed welfare measures worth ₹8.27 crore to 1,164 beneficiaries.  

The event which was organised to celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar as per the Tamil Nadu government’s order, witnessed distribution of welfare measures to thousands of people.

From Adi Dravidar and Tribals Welfare department, welfare measures worth ₹75.75 lakh were distributed to 79 beneficiaries, from Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation (TAHDCO), 140 beneficiaries got welfare measures worth ₹75.06 lakh, from Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission (Mahalir Thittam), 43 beneficiaries got assistance worth ₹56.50 lakh, from the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Cooperative Banks (PACB), 101 beneficiaries received assistance worth ₹64.51 lakh. 

Similarly, on behalf of District Industries Centre (DIC), ₹49.07 lakh worth welfare measures were distributed to 12 beneficiaries, through Agricultural Department 13 beneficiaries got welfare measures worth ₹30,000, through Horticulture department, two beneficiaries got ₹2.97 lakhs worth assistances. 

From Tamil Nadu Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, ₹23.24 lakh assistances were distributed to seven beneficiaries; ₹3.78 lakh worth assistances were given to three beneficiaries under the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board; ₹78,000 worth assistances to five beneficiaries under the Department of the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons; through Revenue Department and Madurai Corporation, 754 people received assistances worth ₹475.13 lakh.  

In addition, Mr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, in a different event at Madurai Corporation, distributed food and ORS powder to about 4,334 sanitation workers working under the corporation in five zones in the city.  

Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration P. Moorthy, district Collector M. S. Sangeetha, Corporation Commissioner Chitra Vijayan, among others were present during the event.
