Government-run Niloufer Hospital on Monday (May 19, 2024) launched Amruth Swasth Bharath, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based diagnostic tool for non-invasive blood testing that delivers results in under a minute.
Developed by Quick Vitals, the technology uses advanced AI and deep learning algorithms through Remote Photoplethysmography (PPG) to generate real-time health assessments via camera-enabled devices. This tool is tailored specifically for the Indian population and marks a major step toward digital transformation in public hospitals, as per a press release.
“Amruth Swasth Bharath will revolutionise health diagnostics in India. Its potential to provide quick, painless and accessible testing, especially for children and pregnant women, makes it a milestone in public healthcare. We are proud to be the first hospital in the country to implement this innovation,” said Ravi Kumar, superintendent of Niloufer Hospital.
Live demonstrations during the launch showed how the tool can assess multiple health parameters, ranging from blood pressure, SpO2, and heart rate to advanced metrics like Haemoglobin A1c, heart rate variability, stress levels and autonomic nervous system activity, all within 20 to 60 seconds.
The AI tool works via smartphone and tablet cameras for contactless assessments and also supports longer-duration monitoring through contact-based PPG sensors. It is expected to reduce dependency on conventional lab infrastructure and offer immediate screening in both rural and urban settings.
