Neil Nitin Mukesh recently spoke about the obstacles he encountered in Bollywood because of his appearance. In an interview, he revealed that many questioned whether he could speak Hindi, given his background in a family of singers and his foreign-like looks.
Overcoming Fear Before His Debut
In an interview with The Therapy Diariez, Neil revealed that before landing his first film in Bollywood, he refused to let fear influence him. He believed he couldn’t afford to feel any fear or panic about whether he would succeed. For him, there was no other option-he had to make it happen at any cost.
Challenges Due to Family Legacy and Looks
Neil explained that coming from a family of renowned singers, including his grandfather Mukesh and his father, posed its own set of challenges. Many people doubted his acting skills and questioned whether his Hindi was good enough. His foreign-like appearance led some to say he looked like an “angrez ka baccha”, casting doubts on his ability to work in Hindi films. Despite these obstacles, Neil managed to turn these perceived disadvantages into strengths.
Early Career and Recent Work
Neil began his career as a child actor with roles in 1988 film ‘Vijay‘ and ‘Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharnii’. He later worked behind the scenes as an assistant director on the 2002 movie ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge’. Neil made his debut as a lead actor in 2007 with ‘Johnny Gaddaar’ and most recently appeared in the 2024 release ‘Hisaab Barabar’.

The Midnight Scare
In conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Mouni shared a frightening incident from her travels. She recalled staying in a small town — the exact location she couldn’t remember — where a stranger tried to unlock her hotel room door at midnight by stealing a key. Fortunately, Mouni was not alone at the time and had her manager with her, which made the situation less dangerous.The Hotel’s Dismissive Response
She further shared that she immediately began screaming when she realized someone was trying to enter the room. When they contacted the hotel receptionist for help, the staff casually brushed it off, suggesting it was probably just housekeeping.
Questioning the Receptionist’s Logic
She ended by questioning the receptionist, asking how anyone from housekeeping could attempt to open a door without knocking or ringing the bell, especially at 12:30 at night.
Mouni Roy’s Upcoming Project: The Bhootnii
Mouni is currently preparing for the release of her horror-comedy The Bhootnii, set to release on May 1, 2025. She made her Bollywood debut in the 2018 film Gold alongside Akshay Kumar and gained further recognition for her role in Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva. A trained Kathak dancer, Mouni is also passionate about painting and sketching.
In the film, Mouni stars as Mohabbat, a ghost caught in a supernatural storyline alongside Sanjay Dutt and Sunny Singh. It is directed by Sidhaant Sachdev.

The Padma Awards 2025 were announced on the eve of Republic Day, January 25, 2025. The list of awardees this year included Arijit Singh, musician Ricky Kej, director Shekhar Kapur, actor Ajith Kumar. Meanwhile, Pankaj Udhas was to be honoured with Posthumous Padma Bhushan. The legendary singer passed away in February 2024 due to prolonged illness. The late singer’s wife Farida Udhas accepted the honour from President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
The news was also shared from the official X account of the Rashtrapati Bhavan (President Of India) and the tweet read, “President Droupadi Murmu confers Padma Bhushan in the field of Art on Shri Pankaj Keshubhai Udhas (Posthumous). He was a versatile singer and he added to the popularity of ghazals. His influence spread across different segments of music lovers. He was also deeply committed to philanthropy. He was actively involved in supporting cancer and thalassemia patients through various means.”
Earlier when the news of him getting the Padma Bhushan was announced, his daughter Nayaab Udhas and the entire family was overwhelmed. Nayaab had said in an interview with Hindustan Times, “I was so happy and emotional when I got a call to inform us about dad’s honour. I felt so happy and grateful that the government of India has recognised his contribution towards not just music, but also towards noble causes such as helping people work towards the cure of thalassemia and cancer. Dad took ghazal to the world and made it relatable. I wish he was around to celebrate with us. We miss him so much more today.”

The couple met first on the set of a commercial shoot and then the rest is history. They tied the knot in 2017 and have two kids. In an interview, Virat was asked about how he met Anushka and fell in love. Recalling their first meet, the cricketer said that he was quite anxious as it was an ad shoot.
The cricketer said in an interview with American sports journalist Graham Bensinger, “I was standing there, super nervous. I had no idea how to break the ice, so I said something silly. I looked at her and said, ‘Couldn’t you have worn higher heels?’ Hoping it would be funny.”
He said that he was conscious that Anushka would look taller than him and that joke was his way of suggesting her that she shouldn’t have worn high heels. Recalling Anushka’s reaction, he said, “But she just gave me a look and said, ‘Excuse me?’ I immediately realized I had messed up and tried to laugh it off. Inside, I felt like a complete idiot.”
Virat said that Anushka was quite confident as she was used to being on a set, as she’s an actress but he was not used to it.
Meanwhile, Virat and Anushka now have two children – Vamika and Akaay. The couple has largely been spending time away from India, ever since their son’s birth. They have also been contemplating to move to London to get some privacy for their children.
