District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad has said that measures are being taken to develop better rapport with industries and improve the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) further.
The Collector inaugurated a Regional Outreach Workshop on EODB at the VMRDA Arena on Monday.
Addressing the participants, Mr. Prasad said the workshop aimed to create awareness among industrialists and entrepreneurs on the reforms brought in by the government.
“Andhra Pradesh continues to hold the top position in EODB. New policies for tourism, textiles and MSME sectors have been introduced. The government is keen on the speed of doing business and early completion of development projects,” he said.
The Collector announced that investors would get incentives for getting project plans ready early and completing construction and beginning production within the stipulated time frame of 1 year to 18 months.
The investors can visit the single desk portal to understand the reforms and the measures taken to bring down the operational costs. Clear instructions would be issued to the bankers to accept ‘deemed approvals’ after a discussion with them at the District Level Bankers Committee (DLBC), Mr. Prasad said.
In the last one year, he said, investments of ₹9 lakh crore had come in, with the potential to create 8 lakh jobs. In Visakhapatnam alone, TCS, Cognizant and some other IT companies promised investments.
Anakapalli district has also received a lot of investments in the recent past. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the NTPC Green Energy Plant and RFPs were issued for investments of ₹30,000 crore. AM&NS was also planning to set up a steel plant, along with a captive port.
General Managers of District Industries Centres Adiseshu (Visakhapatnam) and B.K.P. Prasad (Anakapalli), VASSIWA president Panduranga Prasad and officials from eight DICs in the region were among those who participated in the workshop.
