Kurnool Police Bust Bike Theft Gang; 3 Held

Kurnool:The Kurnool police have busted an inter-state motorcycle theft gang, arrested three persons and recovered several stolen two-wheelers and an autorickshaw from them.

The operation followed a complaint filed by Telugu Chandrakumar, a resident of Gudur mandal in Kurnool district. He reported the theft of his Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle from the parking lot of the Kurnool government general hospital on May 22.

Following instructions from the Kurnool SP, and in view of the rising incidents of vehicle thefts at the government hospital, Kurnool SDPO and III-Town Circle Inspector formed special teams to track down the culprits. On July 14, around 1pm, a police team apprehended three suspects near a tile factory behind a bushy area close to the Nandyal check post and Arundhati Nagar in Kurnool town.

They were Shaik Baba Fakruddin of Burujupalli village, Annamayya district; Shaik Dada Peer of Gudisela Cheruvu village, Annamayya district; and Chowdagandla Aneesh of YSR Nagar, Kadapa town.

Two more suspects — Subhan and Shabbir from Nandyal — were still absconding.

During interrogation, the arrested men confessed to being part of a wider inter-state motorcycle theft racket. They admitted to stealing two-wheelers from Kurnool, Nandyal, Guntakal, Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Narsaraopet and Anantapur.

The stolen vehicles were stored at isolated places in Kurnool before those were handed over to Subhan and Shabbir, who allegedly used electronic tools to prepare fake registration certificates, passing them off as originals to unsuspecting buyers.
