JPSC declares list of 342 successful candidates | Ranchi News – Times of India


Ranchi: Ashish Akshat, a Bokaro lad from a police family, topped the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) 2023, the results of which were announced on Saturday after much delay and opted for the Jharkhand Police Service. A total of 342 candidates were declared successful in the exams, the process of which started in January 2024 but was delayed as the the JPSC chairman post was vacant.In the JPSC examinations results declared on Friday, only two candidates in the top 10 are females and except for Ashish, all the nine others chose the Jharkhand Administrative Service (JAS).The other top 10 candidates are identified as Abhay Kujur, Ravi Ranjan Kumar, Gautam Gaurav, Sweta, Rahul Kumar Vishwakarma, Robin Kumar, Sandeep Prakash, Swai Kesri and Rajiv Ranjan.Of the 342 candidates who cracked the exam, 155 were from the unreserved category while the remaining were from various reserved categories, including scheduled tribes, scheduled castes, economically weaker sections, primitive tribals, candidates from the sports quota, blind and speech-impaired persons, apart from persons with walking disability.As many as 207 have been appointed for Jharkhand Administrative Service (JAS), 35 for the Jharkhand Police Service, 10 for Jharkhand Education Service, one as District Commandant, eight as Assistant Registrars, 14 for Labour Superintendents, six as Probationary Officers and three as Excise Inspectors.Abhay, who is among the top 10, is the son of a former Armyman, Avinash Kumar Kujur, who was martyred in the June 2009 Odisha extremist attack. Lamenting the incident. Abhay said, “I, along with my family members, experienced several challenges after my father’s death. I focused on cracking the JPSC since 2021 and covered the syllabus after a planned strategy.”Similarly, Sandip said he ensured consistency and discipline during preparation for the examinations. “I could not qualify for the UPSC civil service examination despite making four attempts, but I continued to work hard. It led me to secure a place in the top 10 in JPSC. My preparations during the UPSC examinations were very helpful in the JPSC examinations.”The preliminary round for the JPSC examination 2023 was conducted on March 17, 2024, and the mains on June 23 and 24. The results for mains were, however, declared on May 20, 2025, almost 11 months after completion of the examination. The main reason for the delay was the vacant JPSC chairman post from August 2024 to February 2025.Meanwhile, the aspirants had staged several protests in front of the JPSC office and submitted representations to various authorities for the early publication of the results.
