John Abraham on ‘The Diplomat’ vs Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ and Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2’: ‘Unfortunately, this country is about big boss’ | Hindi Movie News – The Times of India

‘The Diplomat’ is struggling to make a strong impact at the box office. Despite John Abraham’s commanding screen presence and an engaging storyline, the film hasn’t gained significant momentum. With fresh releases hitting theaters, the movie faces tough competition, making its journey to commercial success more challenging.
John Abraham’s thoughts on box office competition
Talking to Tellychakkar, John Abraham revealed his thoughts about releasing ‘The Diplomat’ at a time when mass entertainers like Chhaava and Pushpa 2 are dominating the box office.
The actor said, “So the best thing is I don’t think about the other films. I don’t think about numbers. As a producer, I only think about, to be very honest, I only think about how good my product is. So even if you do an interview with my director, he’ll only say that John and I were only interested in what our product gave us. So we were concerned about our background music. We were concerned about our editing. We never really thought, this film is doing that much business, that film is doing that much business. It didn’t matter to us. On the contrary, when we were ready to release, we didn’t have a budget, a marketing budget.
Acknowledging support from Chhaava’s producer
“The producer of ‘Chhaava’, was kind enough to attach a teaser to that film, which is why when you see the film, have given him a special thanks in the film. So honestly, when I’m a producer and I’m an actor presenting a film, I don’t think about other films and their numbers. It’s like you’re sitting in your house. Why would you think about what’s happening in your neighbor’s house? Absolutely. You have to make… You have to think about what’s happening in your house. Unfortunately, this country is about big boss. We’re always concerned and you are what you see. So this country is always concerned about what’s happening in the other”, he further added.
The Diplomat
Directed by Shivam Nair, ‘The Diplomat’ is inspired by true events and revolves around the high-stakes world of diplomacy, intelligence, and national security. John plays a determined diplomat navigating a complex geopolitical crisis.

Ameesha Patel, who recently made a smashing comeback with Gadar 2, is embracing her singlehood with pride. At 49, the actress has opened up about why marriage and relationships were never her priority, and why she has no regrets about walking a different path than what’s expected of most women in showbiz.
‘I don’t lack companionship, I’m just too busy for it’
In an interview with Filmy Mantra, the Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai star revealed her honest views on companionship, love, and why she remains content flying solo. “I think I am very happy with the way my life is going. I don’t lack companionship—I’m so busy with my work that there’s no space for it,” she said, dismissing the idea that marriage is a necessity.
Ameesha added that she hasn’t yet met someone who checks all her boxes. “I don’t think I’ve found that particular person who ticks the boxes in my mind. I am my own person, and I am Ameesha Patel, and I’m happy to be her.”
She also acknowledged the unique challenges that come with her profession. “It takes a lot for a man to be okay living in your shadow. That’s very tough. Of course, he has to put my happiness above everything else—and understand the long working hours, the erratic schedules, the work commitments, the crazy travel. In the middle of all this, how do I give to a relationship? I don’t think I would be able to do justice to one.”
Relationships never a priority
When asked if a relationship is even on her list of priorities, Ameesha didn’t hesitate, “Not at all. It never has been.”
Known for her glamour and sharp performances, Ameesha said she’s grateful for her journey and success. “By the grace of God, I’ve gotten so much—more than I probably asked for. As an outsider, I’ve had colossal box office success. I can proudly say that—not being arrogant, just being factual.”

Ameesha Patel Felt Betrayed

Referring to Gadar 2’s phenomenal impact, she added, “People told us you didn’t just save the Gadar brand, you saved Bollywood. They said the industry was on a ventilator—you guys took it off and gave it life.”

Still in demand 25 years after her debut, she remains grateful, “Roshan documentary is there, Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai is still being celebrated. I have so much to be thankful for.”

‘The Bhootnii’ is all set for its release on May 1, and the makers of the horror comedy hosted a grand screening for close friends and actors from the industry. Among the most talked-about appearances was that of Ibrahim Ali Khan, who arrived in support of his rumoured girlfriend, Palak Tiwari, for her film.
Though neither Ibrahim nor Palak have addressed the dating rumours, their continued public outings and joint appearances at key events have only strengthened whispers of a budding romance. Ibrahim was seen wearing a black full-sleeve T-shirt paired with denim trousers, and he completed his look with black sunglasses. Ibrahim, known for his playful banter with the paparazzi, greeted them as they called out to him for pictures and videos. Palak was seen talking to Ibrahim in a video and was dressed in a green shimmery outfit for the screening.

Palak Tiwari prioritizes career over dating rumors

Palak Tiwari, daughter of television veteran Shweta Tiwari, plays a pivotal character opposite Sunny Singh in ‘The Bhootnii’. Shweta also arrived with her son, wearing a black outfit that had the film’s title printed on it.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt’s presence at the premiere was hard to miss — he kept things classic in a black kurta paired with jeans, exuding effortless charisma.
Shehnaaz Gill, Yamini Malhotra, Nia Sharma, Divyanka Tripathi, Manisha Rani, and others were also seen gracing the screening event in Mumbai.
‘The Bhootnii’ director Sidhaant Sachdev also features Sanjay Dutt and Mouni Roy in key roles. Palak and Sunny are expected to share a romantic bond in the movie.
On the work front, Ibrahim made his Bollywood debut with ‘Nadaaniyan’, alongside Khushi Kapoor. The movie, released on an OTT platform, failed to impress both the audience and critics.
