The seventh annual extreme marathon, Cold Pole–Oymyakon, was held in Russia’s Yakutia in brutal conditions of −42°C. The event ran over two days, from January 16–17. A record 100 athletes from Russia, Belarus and Japan competed, choosing distances of 21.1 km, 42.2 km or 50 km.
