Ranchi: The state health department has initiated ground works for starting kidney transplant services at the govt-run Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) and other hospitals in a phased manner.In this regard, the health department has convened an advisory committee meeting on Jan 9 to review proposals and grant registration and licence for kidney transplant services to Rims and other places, the health department stated on Saturday.As per the prescribed process, a technical committee conducts on-site inspections to assess infrastructure, specialist availability and essential facilities. Based on its report, the advisory committee will take a final decision. Officials said the initiative will reduce the need for kidney patients to seek treatment outside the state and open a new chapter in advanced medical care in the state.
