Kolkata: For the third time this month, Blue Line commuters faced metro disruptions on Thursday. Services were hit because of a technical snag. Once again, the first train of the day got stuck at Rabindra Sadan station, forcing the authorities to run truncated services and halt operations between Maidan and Tollygunge for 42 minutes.At the receiving-end were office-bound commuters and school students, who failed to make it to their classes on time,. Hundreds of passengers were stranded as services in the key Maidan–Tollygunge (Mahanayak Uttam Kumar station) section were unavailable.

“Due to unscheduled preventive maintenance work between Rabindra Sadan and Netaji Bhavan, Metro services are being operated between Maidan and Dakshineswar, as well as Mahanayak Uttam Kumar and Shahid Khudiram (Briji), from 7.35 am. Normal services over the entire stretch of the Blue Line resumed from 8.17 am,” a statement from Metro mentioned.On Jan 13, problems on the same section led to the suspension of services in the Maidan–Tollygunge section, as the first train of the day could not proceed beyond a point after Netaji Bhavan station because of a power-related issue. The train, filled with passengers, was driven back to Netaji Bhavan (Bhowanipore) station.On Jan 5, services between Dakshineswar and Tollygunge were snapped because of a technical snag. Days before this, on Dec 28, a Shahid Khudiram-bound train stopped before entering Tollygunge (Mahanayak Uttam Kumar) station, harassing scores of passengers, including schoolchildren.
