Personnel from Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services (TNFRS) demonstrated their preparedness ahead of the southwest monsoon at the Collectorate here on Monday.

Rescue equipment such as lifebuoys, lifeboats, and improvised tools used during rescue operations were displayed under the supervision of District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar.

Assistant District Fire Officer G. Ramachandran said that all 14 fire stations in the district were fully prepared to manage monsoon-related incidents. He highlighted that the majority of complaints during this period related to fallen trees, snakes, damaged lamp posts, and drowning incidents in water bodies.

According to him, during monsoon, rubber boats, life jackets, lifebuoys, floating motor pumps, cameras with extension and 360-degree rotation, ropes, tower mast lamps, imaging devices, hydraulic cutters, power saw cutters, and first aid kits are among the key tools available in the emergency rescue tender vehicle. An aerial platform ladder vehicle capable of reaching up to 51 metres will also be deployed for rescue operations during flooding, fire, or other disasters.
