An inspector of the Endowments Department was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday in connection with a bribery case. The accused officer was identified as Akavaram Kiran Kumar, attached to the office of the Assistant Commissioner, Hyderabad.

According to the ACB, following a complaint that the officer had demanded a bribe of ₹1.50 lakh for doing an official favour, he was arrested. The bribe was sought to issue a survey report to the complainant in connection with a land matter bearing survey number 616 at Bagh Amberpet, as per a registered case from 2021.

Acting on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap and caught the officer while he was accepting a part payment of ₹50,000 at the Commissioner of Endowments office. The tainted bribe amount was recovered from the accused. He was arrested and produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally. The details of the complainant have been withheld for security reasons.

The ACB has reiterated its appeal to the public to report any demand for bribe by public servants by calling the toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be made through WhatsApp, Facebook and X, and the identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
