Eight held for possession of synthetic drugs | Chennai News – The Times of India


Chennai: City police arrested eight people in two separate incidents involving the possession of methamphetamine and other narcotics. The arrests were made during raids in Triplicane and Choolaimedu over the past week.In the first case, the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit, coordinated with Triplicane police and raided a lodge on Owlia Sahib Street on Friday. Seven people, including the lodge owner, were found in possession of narcotics. Police seized 5g of methamphetamine, 7g of OG ganja, and 1kg of ganja.Mohammed Abbas, 31, Abdul Kalam, 20, and Shakeel Ahmed, 22, Syed Naveed, 28, Sikkandar, 42, Mahesh, 31, and Thahir Daiga, 43, were remanded in judicial custody.In another case, Choolaimedu police arrested Siddharth, 19, for his alleged involvement with methamphetamine peddlers. Investigators said six of his associates were arrested earlier in connection with the same network.Police said more arrests are likely as the department is looking into networks of synthetic drugs in the city.
