There has been popular belief that the court then asked the actor to not wear black suit for his public appearances. However, there is no official confirmation on the same. Dev Anand resorted to wearing plain suits in pastel colours that still made him look handsome as ever.

However, in his autobiography ‘Romancing With Life’, Dev Anand did mention about the rumours of ban on black coat and called it a ‘stupid myth’. He did admit about the hysteria around his look in black coat though.
