Coimbatore Corporation plans to engage self-help groups in maintaining parks across the city.
As part of the initiative, the Corporation will assign 10 parks for maintenance in the 2025-26 financial year. In 2024-25, around 11 parks were handed over to self-help groups for upkeep, including clearing vegetation and waste.
According to the Corporation, funding for this initiative will be procured through the AMRUT Mitra scheme.
Additionally, the civic body, in its 2025-26 budget, has allocated ₹30 crore for repairing damaged play equipment and managing all 630 parks in the city to which it was criticised for not maintaining it.
