Civil society orgs’ network to help marginalised | Ranchi News – Times of India

Ranchi: SAARTHI-Jharkhand Just Transition Network, a collective of 30 civil society organisations (CSOs), was launched to ensure sustainable development and social inclusion in the state on Wednesday. The network will work with the state govt, research institutions, local communities, and environmental organisations to promote inclusive and sustainable development in Jharkhand. A special focus will be placed on forest-dependent, mining-affected, and traditionally marginalised communities of the state.Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren said though the state contributed towards India’s industrial and mining progress, the communities at the forefront of these activities always bore the brunt of environmental degradation and socio-economic disruptions. “As we move towards a just transition, it is imperative that the people of Jharkhand, especially those most affected, are not mere bystanders but active participants in shaping the future of the state as well as their lives. The platform will ensure that the voices of local communities are heard, their concerns are addressed, and their aspirations are placed at the centre of decision-making by fostering dialogue, collaboration, and collective action,” he stated.
