Dumka: A dozen passengers, including elderly and minors, sustained injuries as the bus they were travelling in from Rampurhat in West Bengal to Dumka turned turtle after being hit by a speeding truck from the rear. The accident occurred near Rampur Chowk on the Rampurhat-Dumka Main Road on Wednesday.Locals and passers-by rescued the passengers by breaking the windows and send them to Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital (PJMCH), Dumka. “A one-and-a-half-year-old baby is under observation,” said a doctor attending to the injured.Officer in-charge (OC) of the Muffassil police station, Laurencia Kerketta, said, “The truck driver has been detained for questioning. Preliminary investigations point to high speed and poor visibility as likely causes behind the accident. A detailed probe is under way.”
